“She turned to the sunlight
And shook her yellow head,
And whispered to her neighbor:
“Winter is dead.”
– A.A. Milne, When We Were Very Young
Well, winter is coming might be one of the most famous phrases we hear left and right lately, but since we are at the beginning of June I would say it is actually quite the opposite. It is summer! I am saying it officially.
I must admit that I am usually not that excited for summer. I prefer my autumn months when I can enjoy the outfit – layering at its best. But even I can see that summer has its perks. For example – do you know that time of the day, moments before sundown when it is not scorching hot, but at the same time you can enjoy the last sunrays and the beautiful sky coloured in orange, red or pink?! Yeah, for those moments I can live with summer.
But since I am always the positive… (people that know me personally can stop laughing now) I try to find other sides of the new season that I might enjoy. And don’t you know – I did! Since the season is changing I should probably make some other changes as well, it is only logical. Amazing ideas like: new wardrobe, shopping for sandals and other cool stuff popped into my head. But we should start small, shouldn’t we? Let’s not get over our heads. Let’s start with the basics and one of the beauty departments I adore – perfumes!
I decided it was time to take out my summer scent collection. So, I have this thing with my perfumes… I like to buy them, imagining in which situation I would use them. Does that sound crazy? Probably, but let me elaborate!
THE BODY SHOP- INDIAN NIGHT JASMINE – During the day I like something simple and fresh. I prefer a scent that is straight to the point and the new THE BODY SHOP collection is just that for me. The jasmine notes are easily recognisable and I really enjoy them in the morning in combination with the body lotion from the same line. The scent is not that long lasting, but for the affordable price I think is not a surprise.
D&G – 3 L’IMPERATRICE– I love to use this one when I am going out with friends to have fun and party. I always considered it to have a very fresh, flirty scent and maybe a little bubblegum – ish (is this a word?). This might sound weird but the first time I smelled it, I imagined a girl with a nice bronze tan walking on the beach with a huge smile so naturally I wanted to be that girl and I needed this perfume. Also it was a gift from a very dear friend of mine that I don’t get to see often now, so it is always a nice memory of her.
Top notes: Rhubarb, Red Currant, Juicy Kiwi Accord
Mid notes: Pink Cyclamen, Fresh Watermelon Accord
Base notes: Musky Notes, Sandalwood, Grapefruit Wood
DKNY – BE DELICIOUS FRESH BLOSSOM – You probably already guessed it, but this is my favourite. I had always loved Donna Karen’s perfumes and when she came out with this one a couple of years ago I fell in love with it. I had it for a while now and I always save it for important moments. It has a very floral and clean scent. I adore all the fruity and flowery blends that it incorporates. It is also very long-lasting and lingers on your skin for hours after you apply it.
ARGENT PROVOCATEUR – FATALE PINK – Now, I will admit that I very rarely have to play the grown up, professional dressed in official clothes person but when I do I like to look and smell the role. It is citrusy, deep and musky. It might be somewhat heavy if you are not careful, so a little can go a long way in the case of this aroma.
Here you go! My small but well loved summer collection! Hope you got some ideas for yours!
